DAMBUSTERS by Nicolas Trudgian - Original Pencil Drawing

Nicolas Trudgian is regarded by many as the premier aviation artist with a pencil. His stunning drawings have drawn the attention of critics and collectors alike around the world for many years and demand for his work remains constantly high.

In his fantastic drawing, "Dambusters", Nic pays a fitting tribute to the brave RAF aircrews of Bomber Command 617 Squadron and their now legendary raid on the Great Ruhr Dams, 1943.

Squadron "X" was formed at R.A.F Scampton on the 17th March 1943 under the command of Wing Commander Guy Gibson to destroy the Great Dams of the Ruhr valley and disrupt tie German war machine. It was a near impossible mission with a predicted low survival rate. 617 Squadron paid a high price for their daring mission but succeeded with spectacular results and became one of the most famous bombing raids of the Second World War.
