1943 GENERAL MONTGOMERY LETTER - signed

A VERY RARE PIECE OF EPHEMERA.

We are privileged to offer a unique and hand written letter, dated in August 1943, by the distinguished Army General, Field Marshal Montgomery.

The letter was written whilst he was out in Sicily on a campaign against the Germans and Italians. It is a personal letter to a friend, thanking them for a book.

A rare personal insight into "Monty", a man notorious for his harshness and controversial directness throughout his military career and public life.

The address, postal stamp and franking are also visible on the reverse of this letter card, which add further provenance to the date the letter was written.

The letter bears the original, personalised signature, in ink of;

A very rare letter, signed by a very distinguished wartime general. It is very good condition considering its age and has been well looked after.
