Special Battle of Britain "Victoria Cross" edition commemorative cover. The Battle of Britain VC was, incredibly, only awarded to one pilot, Flight Lieutenant James Nicholson. He flew with 249 Squadron during 1940 and won his VC whilst still attacking Luftwaffe aircraft over the Solent, Southampton in his burning Hurricane before baling out.
