Heading for the Convoys by Stephen Brown features Catalinas of 210 Squadron over the west coast of Scotland in 1944. The Consolidated Catalina entered service with RAF Coastal Command in 1941 and, although only in relatively small numbers, became an important part of Britain's maritime defence with anti-submarine patrols being flown regularly from Pembroke Dock, Poole Bay, Loch Erne and Sullum Voe. It was though in India and the Far East, with the sparsity of developed land based airfields, that the Catalina proved really vital to operations.
