A rare limited edition book and print portfolio by Nicolas Trudgian. This is the Aces Edition of 300 with four veteran signed prints. Released in 2002 this was the second book that showcased the work of leading aviation artist Nicolas Trudgian. The opening section gives an in depth look into the artist and his approach. The majority of the volume consists of reproductions of paintings and pencil drawings introduced by the artist. A beautifully presented book containing the majority of Nicolas Trudgian’s aviation paintings completed between 1998, when his first book was published and 2002. The first section covers Nicolas Trudgian’s life and career as an artist, the subsequent sections contain analysis by the artist of some 37 of his most important paintings, supported by detail shots, pencil sketches and colour plates of complimentary pictures. Foreword is by Air Commodore Peter Brothers CBE, DSO, DFC*. Overall the book has a very high quality feel with both paintings and pencil sketches reproduced with great clarity and excellent colour. Specially published to accompany the book are four matching numbered mini-sized limited edition prints featuring famous fighters from WW2. Each print is 12 x 9.5 inches overall with a white border, signed and numbered by the artist and countersigned by a distinguished veteran - the images are all 9.5 x6 inches. The book and all four prints are signed and numbered by the artist. "Eagles of the Eighth" is signed by USAAF Ace Colonel James Goodson. "Pathfinder Halifax" is signed by Flight Lieutenant John Petrie-Andrews - Pathfinder pilot. "Duel in the Desert" is signed by Group Captain Billy Drake DSO DFC*. "Eagle Attack" is signed by Hauptmann Alfred Grislawski - Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves - 138 victories. The book is presented in a fine quality cloth slipcase with gold block lettering. Comes with the original Certificate of Authenticity.
